IRA Gifts
If you are considering a large charitable donation, a CPA or financial advisor can help you minimize your tax liability and maximize the value and impact of your gift by choosing the right strategy or combination of strategies for your situation.
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a withdrawal from an individual retirement account (IRA) that’s made directly to an eligible charity. IRA account holders who are at least age 70 1/2 can contribute some or all of their IRAs to MIU through a QCD.
If you are at least 72 years of age, and own a traditional IRA, you are required to make a minimum distribution every year; this distribution can be a QCD made directly from your IRA to MIU. QCDs are not counted as taxable income, they offer tax advantages that can maximize your charitable impact.
